不是“平衡的床单”

刚开始接触商务英语的人，常常会对 balance 这个词感到十分疑惑。

大家都知道它表示“平衡”，但是它在商务英语里出现的地方似乎和“平衡”没啥关系。

其实，当 balance 作为名词的时候，在商务英语里，它表示的而是“收入与支出之间的差额”。

所以，你的“账户余额”就叫 account balance 或者 balance of accounts

而 balance sheet 就是财务报表里面的“资产负债表”。

balance 的这个含义出现的情景还有很多，比如：

balance of exchange 汇兑差额

balance of payments 收支差额

balance of trade 贸易差额
