sight的用法总结

　　In sight 的意思是 in one's field of vision，也就是...在视野里，...在眼前。比如，The finish line is in sight. 终点线就在眼前。

　　由此，我们可以引申出它的另一个意思，也就是....在即或是...快要完成了，Close to happening or being achieved.

　　所以，当我们想要表示某事即将如何，或是某事在望，我们就可以使用 in sight.

　　例如，某事即将结束，就是 the end is insight.

　　The end is in sight for India's marathon election.

　　印度马拉松式的选举即将结束。

　　某事胜利在望，victory is in sight.

　　Now, both Liberia and Sierra Leone say victory against the disease that is in sight.

　　现在，利比里亚和塞拉利昂都表示这场疫情已经胜利在望。

　　除 in sight 外，某事在即，我们还可以用 be around the corner OR sth loom 来表达。例如：

　　But new ideas, including driverless taxis, are coming around the corner.

　　然而，包括无人驾驶出租车在内的一些新模式即将出现。

It is often used in jest by university students as final exams loom.但需要注意的是，loom一般表示不好的事情逼近，比如问题、困难等。An unprecedented test of social mobility looms. 对社会流动性前所未有的考验正在冒头。词组loom large 表示令人忧虑的事在逼近(而且似乎难以避免)，例如：The prospect of war loomed large. 战争的阴影在逼近，令人忧虑。
